Our cross

The cross is the work of Jean Willame in 1995

Looking at our cross...

a common symbol and a sign that each of us can wear
- like a garment
- as a presence
- as a gift received and offered
- like a fellowship
- as a reminder

A cross that is not too big, we will carry it in a world that is both secularized and multi-religious, no triumphalism the upper arm is longer.

The body in its attitude of gift can recall our motto, it is both dead and risen contains a sign of hope. He could be from any of the races in our  world it is hollow on the cross, could mean
- kenosis
- counting
- an aspect of the mystery

- where our identity is rooted wearing the cross around the neck would have a meaning other than a hairpin.

          "Put on Christ" Rom. 13.14

It is cast in bronze of red copper and tin, simple and resistant metal
which gives a warm and deep appearance,
which gives a certain visual weight
it already has a slight patina
does not fade, does not stain.

This
he cross is not a jewel
"scandal for the Jews folly for the Gentiles power of God and
wisdom of God to those who are called" 1 cor 1. 23-24
